The National Statistics Office has concluded that 59,600,000 people live below the poverty line in the 4th Nepal Living Standards Survey 2079/80. Despite the government's goal of reducing the population below the poverty line to single digits, poverty is still 20.27 percent.

How is our poverty?

This survey puts those who cannot spend even 1.90 US dollars or 200 rupees per day under the poverty line. That is, those who cannot spend even 200 rupees per day, i.e. 72 thousand 908 rupees per year, cannot even maintain the minimum standard of living. According to the

survey, the rate of poverty in rural areas is significantly higher than in urban areas. The urban poverty rate is 18.34 percent while the rural poverty rate is 24.66 percent. survey has also shown how the access of Nepalis to vehicles and electronic materials has increased. In 2011, 0.82 percent owned a car. Now the number of car owners has reached 1.85 percent. Similarly, in 2011, 6.03 percent had a computer and now 8.77 percent have access to a computer. In 2011, the number of mobile users was 61.79 percent, but now it has increased to 93.55 percent.
