In just one week more than 60 places have been on fire in Palpa. More than 14 houses and sheds were burnt down and more than 20 animals and four-legged animals died. The Division Forest Office has informed that two thousand 218 hectares of area have been burnt in a period of one and a half months. Palpa's Tansen Municipality, Tinau and Rampur areas have been hit by more fires.

The head of the Division Forest Office, Narayandev Bhatrai, said that the fires grew due to the burning of bushes in the fields, to prevent the attack of wild animals, to throw cigarettes and bindi sticks in the forest, and to use fire indiscriminately.
