The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has returned home after a two-day state visit to Nepal. President Ramchandra Paudel along with high-ranking people bid farewell to him on Wednesday at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayankaji Shrestha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Raghuvir Mahaseth reached the airport during his farewell.

On the occasion of the emir of Qatar's farewell, a unit of the Nepalese army offered a salute of 21 guns. The Qatari Emir, who arrived in Nepal on Tuesday at the friendly invitation of President Paudel, had separate meetings with the President and the Prime Minister.

On Wednesday, talks were held between Prime Minister Dahal and a delegation including Amir Tamim from Qatar. During the talks, an agreement was reached between the two countries on various issues related to mutual cooperation. After diplomatic relations between Nepal and Qatar were established on January 21, 1977, this is the first visit of the Emir of Qatar to Nepal.

Nepal established an embassy in Doha on July 11, 2000, while Qatar established an embassy in Kathmandu in August 2011.
