Adolf Hitler was born on this day (April 20) in 1889. Born into a modest Austrian family, Hitler's childhood dream was to become a painter. But after failing to pass the entrance exam to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, he was drafted into the army. He enlisted in the German army during World War I.
Hitler became the leader of the Nazi Party in 1921 when unemployment was rising due to the war. Hitler, who won the hearts of the people in a short time, became the Chancellor of Germany in 1933 at the age of 44. After that, he succeeded in making the position of chancellor very powerful by amending the constitution through the president.
With the death of the president in 1934, Hitler became the country's supreme leader and chancellor. During his reign, Hitler expanded the territory of Germany. He killed more than 600,000 Jews by committing ethnic genocide. He committed suicide on April 30, 1945 after being defeated in World War II.
