The Israeli army attacked Iran on Friday morning. According to Israeli defense officials, Israel launched a counterattack as a military response to Iran's attack on Israel five days ago.
Iranian authorities have confirmed an attack on a military airbase near the central Iranian city of Isfahan on Friday morning. But they did not say which country attacked. Fars News, an Iranian news agency affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, said an explosion was heard near Isfahan's civilian airport and the cause of the explosion was not immediately clear.
The Israeli army has refused to comment on this attack. Iran fired more than 300 missiles and drones at Israel last week. On April 1, seven Iranian officials were killed in an Israeli attack on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria.
For a few days, Israeli leaders threatened to respond to Iran's attack. Which turned the years-long indirect war of the two countries into a direct confrontation .
Iran's army chief, Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, said on Wednesday that Iran would respond to any Israeli attack.
President Biden advised Israel not to react . Israeli counter-attacks have raised fears that the war will escalate . For more than six months, Israel has been fighting on two other fronts against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. Both are allies of Iran.
