The pair of Hrithik Rana and Abhilasha Bista won gold in mixed doubles of the 10th Citizens Bank Open Tennis Tournament on Friday.
The pair of Hrithik and Abhilasha defeated the pair of Pradeep Khadka and Mahika Rana in straight sets by 6-1, 7-5 in the final held at Rakhep Tennis Court in Tripureshwar.
Former national champion Jitendra Pariyar won double gold for veterans. He won gold in men's over 35 singles and doubles. Jitendra defeated Santosh Khatri in 3-6, 6-3, 10-3 sets. Jitendra teamed up with Elam Dixit and defeated the pair of Anil Sai and Seemant Gurung in a set of 3-6, 7-5, 10-7.
Veteran Kamal Thapa became the winner in men's singles over 65 years. He defeated Karma Ghale 6-0, 6-1 in the final. Bimal Kumar Gurung also won double gold. In the over-55 men's singles final, Bimal won 6-2, 6-1 over Pradip Bahadur Shah. In the doubles, the pair of Bimal and Himal Shah defeated the pair of Kamal Thapa and Chyamba Dhundup in the final by 6-1, 7-5 sets.
Veteran Kamal Bahadur Bhandari defeated Mahesh Shrestha in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the men's singles final over 45 years old. In doubles, Chandra Shahi and Degendra Shrestha beat the pair of Mahesh Shrestha and Chhewang Lama in straight sets 6-1, 6-4 in the final.
The men's/women's singles final will be held on the last day. In men, Pradeep Khadka and Pranab Manandhar will compete for the title. The women's singles final will be between Abhilasha Bista and Sunira Thapa.
