According to Ward President Asbir Gurung, a fire broke out in the house of local Khardhwoj Gurung around 8 o'clock on Tuesday morning. Ward president Gurung said that although the locals managed to save the family, they could not save the house and the belongings inside the house.
As soon as we got information about the incident, a team including a police officer from the temporary police post Maling went to the spot. According to the police, food, cash, and gold inside the house were damaged to the tune of 14 lakh 14 thousand 500 rupees due to the fire, said Police Inspector Thaneshwar Chapai, Information Officer of District Police Office Lamjung. Khardwoj's family of 13 including husband/wife, sons and daughters, grandchildren are living there and they are in trouble after all the food and clothes were burnt.
Ward president Gurung said that they have been arranged to stay in the rooms where the homestay is being operated and preparations are being made to distribute the relief. The police said that it is believed that the fire was caused by an electrical short.
