Rajeshman Singh, Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City, has accused the federal government of discrimination in the budget.

Central government discriminated against Birganj: Mayor Singh

Before the parliamentary team of the Public Accounts Committee, Mayor Singh said that Birganj Metropolitan Municipality got much less budget than Bharatpur Metropolitan Municipality. According to Mayor Singh, Bharatpur Municipal Corporation has got a budget of 390 crores and Birganj Municipal Corporation has got only 115 crores. "We request that a fair budget be allocated in the upcoming budget," he said.

The member of the House of Representatives, Ramkrishna Yadav, assured that the Public Accounts Committee would discuss the discrimination on Birgunj and give written instructions to the government.

The parliamentary team of the Public Accounts Committee under the coordination of MP Yadav interacted with the representatives of the local level on Thursday when they reached Birgunj during on-site monitoring. In the

interaction, former minister and MP Pradeep Yadav, MP Amresh Kumar Singh, MP Devprakash Timilsina, MP Prabhu Hazar, Mayor Rajeshman Singh, Chief District Officer of Parsa Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, Superintendent of Police Kumodh Dhungel and others were present.
