Farmers did not give wheat to food after the low price was fixed

After the government set the price of wheat below the market price by Rs 600 per quintal, the Food Management Trade Center, Rajapur has not been able to purchase wheat.
Although the Center issued a notification that the purchase process had started on 3rd Baisakh, the farmers have not brought the wheat to sell. After the government fixed the price of wheat at 3,650 rupees 14 paise per quintal, the Center has set up depots at Shanti Bazar, Prasenipur and Food Trade Center to buy wheat. However, wheat has not been purchased so far.
Farmers have been selling to traders when the price set by the government is much lower than the market price. It is certain that there will be no purchase until the price of wheat is revised," said Keshavraj Budha, head of the centre. According to him, traders have purchased per quintal at Rs 4,000 to 4,200.
The wheat purchased by the center is sent to remote hilly districts. Last year, wheat was cultivated in about 22,900 hectares in Bardia. According to Sagar Dhakal, head of Integrated Agriculture and Livestock Development Office, 83,550 tons of wheat was produced last year. This year, the area for wheat has increased to 23 thousand 335 hectares, he said.
