Nepali Congress spokesperson Prakasharan Mahat has said that the budget of the sports sector should be doubled. At the inauguration of the first late Dhruva Amatya Memorial Cup, which started on Friday in Battar, Nuwakot, he said that the sports sector has always been subjected to injustice in the allocation of budget, so the three-level government should double the size of the budget in the coming days.
"We have already announced that we will increase the size of the budget in the sports sector in the next year's budget allocation", he said, "The Ministry of Sports has received a mandate to submit the ceiling of the budget as per the requirement. We believe that even if the government changes in the meantime, the mandate will be addressed.
Spokesperson Mahat says that the increased budget in the sports sector will help in the construction of physical structures, production of new manpower and help in national unity.
He urged the government at all three levels to increase sports activities, give priority to the sports sector and bring more new programs to make the players financially stronger.
