Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Padam Giri has informed that a legal arrangement is going to be made to return the money of the cooperative's savers. He said in the meeting of the Council of Ministers that there is a lack of law, including selling the assets of the directors to return the savings to the victims of the cooperatives, so they are going to make legal arrangements for it.
Talking to Kantipur, Minister Giri said that there was a discussion about bringing an ordinance as there is an urgent need for legal arrangements to solve the problems of cooperative victims.
'In order to solve the problems of cooperative victims, laws had to be brought through fast track . The need for a new law has been discussed in the Council of Ministers,'' said Minister Giri. Since a law has to be made to solve the cooperative problem, it will be slow to go through the regular process, so it was discussed whether it can be brought through an ordinance.'
Minister Giri says that the government is going to bring an ordinance according to the constitutional provisions. He argues that a legal arrangement is going to be made to return the savings of cooperative victims within the scope of the constitution. He said that the constitution has given the government the right to enact laws through ordinances in case of emergency when the house is not functioning.
Giri said that the ordinance on cooperatives has not been recommended to President Ramchandra Paudel. Giri also said that the ordinance brought to make legal arrangements for the investment conference has been recommended to the President and the government is expecting it to be issued by Sunday before the investment conference.
Minister Giri said about Congress accusing Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane, who is also the president of the RSVP, of bringing an ordinance to protect cooperative funds from embezzlement. Not to protect the leader, but to bring back the money of the cooperative savers.'
The main opposition Congress has objected to the government's decision to bring an ordinance to solve the cooperative problem. Chief Whip of Congress, Ramesh Lekhtar, issued a press release on Saturday and objected to the fact that the Council of Ministers is about to bring an ordinance to make legal arrangements regarding investment conferences and cooperatives.
Congress has objected to bringing an ordinance while demanding a parliamentary committee to investigate the deputy prime minister and home minister Ravi Lamichhane, who is said to be involved in the cooperative problem in the parliament.
