President Ramchandra Paudel has approved the deployment of the Nepali Army for the by-elections to be held in Ilam and Bajhang.

Spokesperson of the President's Office, Shailja Regmi Bhattarai, informed that President Paudel has approved the mobilization of the Nepali Army for the by-elections of the House of Representatives and the Provincial Assembly to be held on 15th Baisakh, i.e. Saturday. According to

spokesperson Bhattarai, according to the recommendation of the National Security Council on May 10th and the recommendation of the Council of Ministers on the same day, approval has been given for the deployment of the army in accordance with Article 66 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. There is a constitutional provision that the Supreme Commander of the Nepali Army is the President.

By-elections will be held in Ilam Constituency No. 2 of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly Constituency No. 1 (1) of Bajhang. A period of silence has started in Ilam and Bajhang from 12 midnight on Wednesday.
