Dedicated and trunk line tariff controversy: Commission members take oath

In the presence of Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet in the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation at Singhdarbar, Water Resources and Irrigation Secretary Sarita Duwadi and Commerce Secretary Dinesh Kumar Ghimire of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply administered the oath of office and secrecy.

The cabinet meeting held on January 24th formed a three-member commission of inquiry under the leadership of former Supreme Court judge Lal. The members of the commission have been changed several times. Water Resources and Irrigation Secretary Sushil Chandra Tiwari, who was previously a member of the commission, has been transferred to Energy Secretary, and Water Resources and Irrigation Secretary Duwadi has been made a member in his place.

Similarly, Commerce Secretary Narayan Prasad Sharma Duwadi has been replaced by Dinesh Kumar Ghimire as a member of the commission. The meeting of the Council of Ministers on March 30 has extended the term of the commission by one month.

Commission chairman Lal informed Minister Basnet that the commission has completed its work and is ready to submit its report within the extended time.

Minister Basnet urged the commission to work according to the mandate and asked him to be sure that more support is needed from the ministry. The government has formed a commission to resolve the disputes related to dedicated and trunk line tariffs, which have been in dispute for a long time.
