The Nepal-Qatar Joint Commercial Council has been established, comprising the private sectors of Nepal and Qatar. An agreement was reached on Wednesday for the establishment of a council headed by the president of Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chandra Prasad Dhakal, and the president of Qatar Chamber, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani.

Federation President Dhakal and Qatar Chamber President Sheikh Khalifa signed the agreement in the presence of Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar and Prime Minister of Nepal Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The council will work in the areas of trade expansion, investment promotion, technology transfer, tourism promotion. The purpose of the council is to increase cooperation and understanding between the private sector of the two countries.

Both presidents expressed the opinion that since the cooperation has intensified after the establishment of the council, it will now support investment and business expansion. "The agreement will further enhance cooperation in the future," said Qatar Chamber President Al Thani. Federation President Dhakal said that more work will be done for more cooperation through the council.

"The council will continue to work to benefit from Qatar's rapid economic development," he said. He said that after the establishment of the council, it will be easy to increase investment in Nepal's hydropower, tourism, infrastructure, information technology and agricultural processing sectors.
