MADI, DEC 18 -
Local people and relatives of the Bote couple killed in Saturday’s elephant attack continued their demonstration in the Madi area on Tuesday. They demanded compensation for the victims’ family and reigning in the wild animals. Irate protesters torched the offices of four local buffer zone users’ committees and a community forest. On Saturday, a wild tusker named Dhurbe killed Buddiram Bote, 65, and his wife Jariya, 60, at their home at Gardi-9. The protesters have said they will not cremate the bodies until authorities address their demands.
