Secretariat building for radio station
KATHMANDU, SEP 22 - Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NFEJ) and Radio Sagarmatha, South Asia’s first community radio will have their own secretariat building with support from common people and some non-governmental organisations.
Former president of the NFEJ, Laxaman Upreti announced the new plan amidst a programme organised here today by the NFEJ to mark the fifth year of the commencement of the radio programme "Uhile Bajeko Palama" (During the time of our grandfather). "We will have our own building soon," he announced, "Our plan to have our own building became successful because of the support of all".
According to Dhatri Subedi, treasurer of the NFEJ, the Forum expects to collect Rs. 2.7 million. Nearly half of the amount has already been raised under the programme Ita Karyakram, a fund raising programme.
In the programme that began with flute playing by folk-culturalist Subi Shah, participants of the radio programme "Uhile Bajeko Palama" were felicitated.
NFEJ president Tirtha Koirala, editor of Nepal fortnightly, expressed gratitude to all those who supported the fund raising programme. Posted on: 2003-09-21 10:07
