KATHMANDU, FEB 10 -

As part of their efforts to rein in the taxis overcharging passengers, traffic police on Sunday booked two cabbies for meter tampering.

The taxis (Ba 1 Ja 8654) and (Ba 1 Ja 7921) were caught by the Metropolitan Traffic Police Department (MTPD) for meter earthing yet again even after being charged earlier. According to MTPD spokesperson Pawan Giri, the meters of the two taxis have been seized.  The taxi owners have been fined Rs 5,000 each for the violation.
