Karki is new NBA prez

KATHMANDU, JAN 17 - Hari Krishna Karki was on Thursday elected the new President of Nepal Bar Association (NBA), an umbrella organisation of Nepali lawyers. He secured 3,257 votes against his nearest rival Sher Bahadur KC who bagged 3,182 votes. Karki was the common presidential candidate from the progressive-republic panel. Sunil Pokharel of the democratic panel was elected general secretary. Tikaram Bhattarai (central region), Janak Pande (eastern), Anita Gurung (western), Padam Baidik (Mid-west) and Rajendra Bahadur Saud (Farwest) were elected vice-presidents. Except for Pande, all the vice-presidents are from the progressive republic panel.
