KAKADVITTA (JHAPA), DEC 29 -
Nepali Congress (NC) leader Chakra Prasad Bastola underwent an emergency surgery after suffering from a brain hemorrhage on Saturday. He collapsed while addressing a programme in Biratnagar, Morang.
Bastola underwent a surgery at Jupiter MRI and Diagnostic Centre in Siliguri, India at around 6pm.
“The surgery lasted 3 hours. His condition is still critical but we are trying our best,” senior neuro-surgeon Dr Siddiraj Sharma at the centre told the Post.
Bastola was immediately rushed to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) in Dharan, where the doctors confirmed that he had been suffering from brain and heart ailments.
“The doctors at the BPKIHS said Bastola had serious complications in heart and brain,” said NC youth leader Bishwo Prakash Sharma. He was later taken to Siliguri as his treatment was not possible in Dharan. He was rushed to the Indian city on an ambulance rather than airlifting him to the Capital on a helicopter as per the doctors’ suggestion.
