Kathmandu Int’l Art Festival in final week

KATHMANDU, DEC 18 - As the month-long The Kathmandu International Art Festival (KIAF 2012) that started from November 25 enters its last stage, important events and programmes are going to be held this week.
American artist Brooke White’s talk programme is scheduled for Wednesday. A practicing artist and educator specialising in fine art photography and video art, White will be speaking on the theme “Earth, Body and Mind” at Metropark in Lazimpat. The associate professor at the University of Mississippi has exhibited her photographs and videos in various parts of the US, France and Germany. She creates much of her work while travelling in many parts of the Southeast Asian region, as well as East Africa, South America and Southeastern US.
According to one of the festival organisers, most of her work analyses how disease, tourism and agriculture and politics affect the human connection. The art festival will conclude amid a formal ceremony at Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal, on December 21.
