Trust

DEC 18 - Things can change so fast,
for I admit that I never used to trust.
The thought of being let go by someone close,
only left me sick with disgust.

Hiding emotions with countless pretences,
making sure my heart was in place.
I never let true emotions show,
for I carefully hid my real face.

That one day when you appeared,
suddenly I realised I could fall.
I tried to keep my feelings a secret,
because I knew that I’d want it all.

Like everyone I’d trusted more,
I was scared that you’d also hurt me.
Now, drowning me in the ocean of tears,
you killed me and let yourself free.
