KATHMANDU, DEC 11 -
Shiwa Hasami, who was set on fire by an Indian man for turning down his proposal to elope on Saturday, is in critical condition, said an attending doctor.
The 16-year-old girl, airlifted to Kathmandu and admitted to the Bir Hospital on Monday, has shown little improvement. Dr Piyush Dahal, chief of Bir’s Burn Unit, said around 90 percent of her body has been badly burnt and that they were trying their best to stabilise the functioning of her vital organs before proceeding to other treatment. “She has deep burns. So far we are giving her supportive treatment for the functioning of her vital organs. However, there is a little chance of her recovery,” Dr Dahal said.
Babu Khan, 23, poured petrol on Hasami, of Gulariya-8, and set her on fire after she refused his proposal to elope. Following the incident, Hasami was taken to the Bheri Zonal Hospital in Nepalgunj for treatment. Posted on: 2012-12-12 08:02
