Demand for cycle lane

KATHMANDU, NOV 29 - With a view to mounting pressure on the government and authorities concerned to have a cycle lane along the Maitighar-Tinkune road section here, a Cycle Action Day is being organised on Friday. A ‘cycle mosaic’ followed by a bicycle parade will be held during the event jointly hosted by the Nepalese Youth for Climate Action (NYCA), Kathmandu Cycle City 2020, Cycle City Network Nepal and World Cyclist Foundation Nepal. “Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s decade-long decision to build a cycle lane in that section of the road did not materialise,” a statement issued by the NYCA said. “With the road expansion drive in that section ongoing, the time is right to voice for the lane.” (PR)
