POKHARA, NOV 08 -
Machhindra Club have reached the finals of the second Safal Pokhara Cup after coming back from a goal down against Yeti Himalayan Sherpa Club (YHSC) to win 3-1 on Thursday. They will now play Manang in Saturday’s summit clash.
In a highly contested match, both teams showed attacking flair but were unable to break the deadlock in the first half.
The second half started off with drama as Machhindra were awarded a penalty in the 62nd minute. In-form Deepak Rai missed from the spot as YHSC breathed a sigh of relief.
Machhindra soon paid off the miss as YHSC took the lead in the 70th minute through Ganesh Khadka, but Karna Limbu equalised in the 85th minute taking the match into extra time. Limbu scored again in the 94th minute giving lead for Machhindra. YHSC’s Ganesh Khadka was sent off in the 114th minute, before Deepak Rai sealed the match.
