KATHMANDU, FEB 11 -
A Geneva-based human rights organisation, Trial (Swiss association against impunity), on Friday filed cases of disappearance of human right defenders Rajendra Dhakal and Padam Narayan Nakarmi at the United Nations Human Rights Committee.
Issuing a statement, Trial said it has called on the committee to request the Government of Nepal to ensure a prompt investigation into the arbitrary deprivation of liberty and subsequent enforced disappearance of Dhakal and Nakarmi, to bring the perpetrators to justice, provide their relatives with adequate compensation and measures of reparation and in the event of their death, to locate, exhume, identify and return their mortal remains to their families.
Dhakal was arrested by the Nepal Police in January 1999 from Tanahun and Nakarmi by the Nepal Army in September 2003.
