POKHARA: The Wednesday's match of the 10th Aaha Gold Cup Football Tournament was called off owing to incessant rainfall. Samsung Jawalakhel Youth Club and Pune FC were scheduled to square off in the first semi-final. The organisers decided the match will be staged on Friday. African United will play for the final spot against Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club on Thursday.
Khumaltar finish first
KATHMANDU: Khumaltar Youth Club won the Red Bull C Division National League Football Championship Wednesday. In the last match of the league played at Police Training Center, Maharajgunj, a brace from Niresh Dulal helped Khumaltar nail Samaj Kalyan Khelkud Kendra 2-0 to finish first. In the other match of the day, Shree Kumari Club downed Badra Football Club 2-0 to clinch the second spot. The winners and the runners-ups were awarded cash prizes of Rs 1,50,000 and 70,000 respectively. Likewise, Samaj Kalyan, Satdobato Youth Club, Badra Club and UNBS finished third, fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. The best defender, mid-fielder, keeper, striker and coach were also received Rs 10,000 respectively.
Shrestha elected president
KATHMANDU: The third general assembly of Nepal Badminton Association elected a 19-member executive committee under the leadership former vice-president Ramesh Kumar Shrestha. Dhurba Kumar Shrestha, Pratap Adhikari, Pitambar Timsina and Madhav Bahadur Thapa are the vice-presidents while Deependra Kumar Shrestha is the treasurer.
