KATHMANDU, FEB 03 -
Nepal participated in the Toronto’s Ultimate Travel Show held in Toronto, Canada from Jan 28-29. The show was organized by Toronto Star, a newspaper publication house, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
The fair was supported by an aggressive marketing initiative under Metroland Media Group with an advertising campaign in other key media including print, radio, television and numerous electronic media initiatives, said a press statement issued by the Nepal Tourism Board. This is the second time that Nepal has joined the Canadian Travel Show. There were over 100 exhibitors from South America, the Caribbean and Asia. The Visit Lumbini Year 2012 campaign was launched during the show. A significant number of visitors visited the Nepal stall and made inquiries about the country’s tourist attractions. “Visitors were found to be interested in adventure activities, cultural tourism and home stay,” according to the statement.
There was a significant increment in tourist arrivals in 2011 due to the year-long national tourism campaign Nepal Tourism Year 2011. About 735,932 tourists visited Nepal with Canadian arrivals making up 1.8 percent or 10,060 tourists among the total inbound.
