KATHMANDU, FEB 02 -
The coordination committee of the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha on Thursday termed the recommendation of the State Restructuring Commission as “faulty”. The meeting concluded that the recommendation doesn’t take into consideration the spirit and the objective of Madhes uprising—one Madhes Pradesh.
According to Raj Kishore Yadav, vice-chairman of the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Ganatantrik, the meeting also took exception to the naming of the provinces in Madhes. According to Yadav, a full meeting of the Morcha would be called soon to make public the alliance’s position on the commission’s recommendation.
Similarly, Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (MJF) has deemed both the proposals, presented by the State Restructuring Commission (SRC), as anti-Madhes.
Addressing a press meet in the Capital on Thursday, MJF Chairman Upendra Yadav said the government is conspiring to split the Madhes region into pieces. “Both the proposals are anti-Madhes. Along with other past agreements, they have failed to incorporate the needs of the Madhesis, indigenous, and other minorities,” said Yadav. Yadav also claimed that the proposals have betrayed the ‘autonomous Madhes’ agreement.
