Dalit rights activist dies

KATHMANDU, AUG 16 -
Suvash Darnal, a prominent Dalit rights activist and the managing director of Samata Foundation, died in a car accident in Virgina in the US on Monday. Darnal, 31, met with the accident when he was driving after his arrival at the Dulles International Airport in Virginia from California. Following the airport shuttle accident that occured a few miles off the airport, Darnal was taken to the nearby Reston hospital, where he died. Darnal was in the US as a Summer Research Fellow at the University of Stanford. He was widely respected for his activism in Dalit rights. He was also the founder chairperson of Jagaran Media Centre.
