KATHMANDU, JUN 10 -
The Ministerial Cabinet meeting held on Friday appointed six board members to the National Sports Council (NSC). However, member secretary of the NSC is yet to be appointed.
The Cabinet is yet to name five more members. As per rules the Cabinet appoints 11 NSC board members.
Minister for Education and also the Government’s Spoke-sperson Ganga Lal Tuladhar appointed Indra Bahadur Thing of Kavre, Mukunda Bahadur Pahari of Lalitpur, Pahal Singh Gharti Magar of Rukum, Kusum Kumari Shrestha of Jhapa, Nambar Sherpa and Yuvraj Lama of Sindhupalchowk as the board members. It is believed that filmmaker Lama, who is also a karate player, will be named as member secretary
on Sunday.
The government also decided to give Rs 50,000 each to 39 football players from Nepali football team, who had reached the finals of the AFC Challenge Cup, and Nepali women team that won the SAAF Women Championship. The five coaches are also likely to receive Rs 25,000 each.
