NSU member ‘swindles’ 11m

KATHMANDU, SEP 05 -
 A central member of the Nepal Students’ Union (NSU), the student wing of the Nepali Congress, has been accused of defrauding over two dozen people of over Rs. 11.5 million.

Police said NSU member Santosh Bhatta of Gorkha allegedly defrauded at least 25 people, who have lodged a complaint at the Metropolitan Police Range Hanumandhoka. Bhatta, a former president of the Free Students’ Union in Bishwo Bhasa Campus, is on the run for the past few months. A preliminary investigation indicated that Bhatta spent a lot of money in casinos by borrowing from his colleagues and acquaintances.
