NEPSE still in the red

KATHMANDU, AUG 31 -
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) shed 5.58 points on Tuesday continuing a losing streak for the third consecutive day to close at 421.16 points.

The secondary market stayed downhill with the stock of 46 companies among the 66 on the trading floor taking a beating. Only nine companies witnessed a rise in their share prices. On Tuesday, none of the sub-indices realized a growth. A drop of 9.45 points in the sub-index of development banks led the losers.

The sub-indices of the others group, hydropower companies, commercial banks, trading companies, insurance companies and finance companies dropped 7.05 points, 6.43 points, 5.73 points, 5.14 points, 1.37 points and 1.1 points respectively. The sub-index of the hotels group did not see any change.The stocks of City Development Bank and Bishal Bazaar Company went down heavily dropping Rs. 63 per share and Rs. 60 per share respectively. On the other hand, Biratlaxmi Bikas Bank posted the highest gain of Rs. 26 per share.

The stock market realized a total turnover of Rs. 23.81 million from the trading of Rs. 64,538 shares from 983 transactions.
