NEPSE gets off on the wrong foot
KATHMANDU, AUG 29 -
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) started the week with a drop of 3.81 points to close at 428.93 points. NEPSE declined with a fall in the sub-indices of six sectors.
A drop in the share prices of Nepal Doorsanchar Company during Sunday’s trading resulted in the others sector losing 8.22 points. The company’s stock fell Rs 7 per share. Similarly, the sub-indices of development banks, commercial banks, hotels, insurance companies and finance companies dipped 7.66 points, 3.53 points, 3.47 points, 1.58 points and 0.46 point respectively. Meanwhile, manufacturing and processing companies and hydropower companies posted gains of 4.57 points and 3.2 points respectively.
The secondary market, however, saw a significant rise in the number of companies on the trading floor and the volume of shares traded. On Sunday, 118,200 shares of 75 companies changed hands. The stock market witnessed a turnover of Rs. 32.26 million.
