Rijal also attacks UNMIN

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, AUG 24 -
A day after his party spokesman’s fresh tirade against the United Nations Mission in Nepal, another Congress leader, also the Culture Minister, too hauled the UNMIN over the coals.

“There is no need of the UNMIN which does ‘politics’ instead of performing the assigned tasks,” charged Minendra Rijal.

The UNMIN should not stay here and Maoist army combatants could be monitored by the technical committee formed to assist the Special Committee on supervision, integration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants, he said speaking at Reporters’ Club here today.

On the budget issue, he said the caretaker government does not have the moral ground to bring in budget for fiscal year 2010-2011.

Rijal’s remark on budget comes amid reports that the caretaker government could bring in this year’s budget as the formation of a new government is still in limbo.

“All parties were drawn to the issue of new government formation than discussing about the budget issue,” said Rijal at Reporter’s Club.

He urged the CPN-UML to play an active role for the formation of a new government.
