Sophisticated APF weapons missing

POST REPORT

POKHARA, AUG 22 -
Two sophisticated weapons have gone missing from the Armed Police Force (APF) Training Academy in Pokhara in Kaski district.

The academy said the weapons went missing from an APF team that went outside for a training on Saturday night.

Senior Superint-endent of Police Subodh Adhikari at the academy said a Short Machine Gun and one 9MM Indian Pistol are not accounted for.

“We have started looking for the arms as we could not find them during our regular inspection on Sunday morning,” he said, adding they earlier thought those weapons had been misplaced.

A highly-placed security source said three APF teams had gone out of the academy on Saturday night at different times for the training.

The source further said not a single police officer and trainee involved in the training programme remains absent in the academy now. The APF headquarters on Sunday formed a seven-member team headed by Deputy Inspector General of Police Sushil Shrestha to investigate the matter.

The headquarters also directed the academy to cooperate with the team to carry out the investigation.
