TMLP to strip Sharma of his CA membership
KATHMANDU, AUG 16 -
The Tarai Madhes Loknatrik Party (TMLP) on Monday decided to terminate Constituent Assembly membership of lawmaker Ram Kumar Sharma.
The party’s Central Committee meeting decided to notify Speaker Subas Nembang on Tuesday about its decision to quash Sharma’s membership. Sharma, who was elected from Mohattari-4 in the CA elections, joined the UCPN (Maoist) in 2009.
“The party has decided to terminate his membership concluding that he was involved in undisciplined activities,” said TMLP Whip Govinda Chaudhary.
Meanwhile, a meeting of office bearers of the Maoists on Monday decided to submit a memorandum to the Indian Embassy on Tuesday to protest the alleged threat issued by an embassy official to lawmaker Sharma. Maoist Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said the meeting decided to submit the memorandum as the initial reply of the Indian Embassy was not satisfactory.
Outfit’s threat
NEPALGUNJ:Janatantrik Tarai Madhes Mukti Party, an underground outfit, has threatened “physical action” against lawmaker Sharma.
In a statement, outfit’s chairman Bhagat Singh demanded Sharma’s resignation from his constituency as “he is not capable of representing the Madhesi people anymore.”
