India donates vehicles, books

KATHMANDU, AUG 15 -
Marking the 64th Independence Day, the Indian Government has gifted 20 ambulances and 4 school buses to various educational and medical institutions as well as welfare organisations.

At a function held on the premises of Indian Embassy, Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood presented 16 ambulances and 4 buses to recipient organisations from 17 districts. Similarly, Consul General of India in Birgunj T Ashok gifted four ambulances to different organisations based in Parsa, Mahottari, Chitwan and Rautahat districts, read an  Embassy statement.

Sood also handed over books to 25 educational and training institutions.

The Indian ambassador also released Bhu Pu 2010, an annual publication of the Indian Army Ex-Servicemen Welfare Organisation.

India has already donated 282 ambulances and 54 buses to various institutions since 1994,  the release read.
