Lawmaker dies of burn injuries
KATHMANDU, AUG 14 -
UCPN (Maoist) lawmaker Ram Kumari Yadav, who was severely burnt in a fire triggered by leakage of cooking gas cylinder in her kitchen on Friday, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi, on Saturday evening.
On Saturday afternoon, Yadav was flown to India on an air ambulance with three doctors for treatment after medics at Bir Hospital referred her to the Indian hospital. “Yadav breathed her last at around 7:30 even as the doctors were preparing for surgery,” confirmed Yadav’s personal secretary Raj Dev Yadav.
Yadav had been living in a rented room at Subidhanagar, Tinkune, where the accident occurred in the wee hours of Friday. The Director of Bir Hospital in Kathmandu, Dr. Bulanda Thapa, had said Yadav had more than 70 percent burn injuries.
Yadav was elected to the Constituent Assembly from Dhanusha district’s constituency-6.
