Splinter faction censures Mainali

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, AUG 14 -
The newly formed CPN-ML (Samajbadi) has said the merger of the party with the UCPN (Maoist) would be possible in the future.

“We don’t have immediate plans for unification with the Maoist party,” said party Chairman Jagat Bahadur Bogati at a press conference here on Saturday. “We are in favor of left alliance so there may be merger with the Maoists in the long run.”

The party was formed as a splinter group of the CPN (ML) before the forth round of prime ministerial polls   on Aug. 6. Four lawmakers of the party voted for Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the last election.

The leaders of the new party dismissed involvement of money factor and blamed CPN-ML General Secretary C.P. Mainali for the split. Bogati said the division occurred due to Mainali’s self-centered approach, feudal attitude and greed for money. He said the party would contribute to taking forward peace process and constitution drafting.

Lawmaker Santa Nepali alleged Mainali’s faction for trying to abduct her. She said Mainali’s aide had called her up and offered Rs. 2 million provided she returns to CPN-ML.
