Five more NC district chiefs
KATHMANDU, AUG 14 -
Five more district presidents of the Nepali Congress (NC) were elected on Saturday during the ongoing 12th district convention.
In Morang, Amrit Aryal has been elected the district president for the second term. Aryal, who is close to party establishment, garnered 505 votes while his rival Dig Bahadur Limbu garnered 350. Bir Bahadur Rana was elected president of Palpa district. He is considered to be close with the party establishment side.
In Arghakhanchi, Kamal Prasad Bhushal emerged victorious beating Bishnu Mushkan by four votes. Bashudev Acharya and Hari Bahadur Khadka were elected secretary and treasurer, respectively. Sources said Bhusal is close to party Acting President Sushil Koirala.
Govinda Dhungana was elected president unanimously in Terhathum. Arjun Tumbahangphe and Santosh Ninleku were elected secretary and treasurer. In Rolpa, Krishna Bahadur Ghartimagar, who is close to Deuba, was elected. Meanwhile, election could not held in Bajura district on Saturday due to a dispute between supporters of Koirala and Sher Bahadur Deuba. The re-election has been scheduled for Sunday.
NC district committee, Bara, also announced to hold the run-off poll on Sunday as none of the contestants garnered majority.
