Parsa VDC loses four youths

SHANKAR ACHARYA

DHOBINI (PARSA), AUG 11 -
Dhobinin VDC in Parsa district is in deep mourning as it lost four local youths in a landslide in Kashmir of India.

Rajesh Prasad Kurmi, Shesha Nath Raut, Manai Prasad Kurmi and Mainuddin Ansari of Dhobini-4 were killed when the landslide swept away their camp on Aug. 4.

They were working for a contractor to install a tower of high-tension line in the area.

The families of the three deceased went to Kashmir and received the dead bodies and performed the last rites there.

However, the body of Sheshnath is yet to be recovered. Umesh Patel, a local, said the villagers collected donation to perform the 13-day mourning rites of the deceased. “The bereaved families sent them to India for employment because of poverty. They don’t have money to perform mourning rituals,” said Patel.

Locals have accused the government of being rude to the grieving families. “Government officials have not yet met the families to inquire about the incident,” said a bereaved family member.

A group of some 80 youths had left for Kashmir two months ago in search of jobs.
