Oman Air to link Muscat, Kathmandu from Sept 2
KATHMANDU, AUG 09 -
Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, on Monday announced its plan to commence air services between Kathmandu and the capital Muscat from Sept. 2.
The airline said that Kathmandu was the 40th destination on its network. It will be operating the service with a B737-700 aircraft with business and economy class seat configuration.
Oman Air will fly four times a week -- on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday -- departing from Kathmandu at 18:05 and landing that evening in Muscat at 20:45 local time. It will provide onward connections to Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the GCC and Europe.
The airline currently operates direct flights from Muscat to major Gulf destinations such as Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Riyadh and Kuwait.
In addition, Oman Air flies to 10 destinations in India — Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Hyderabad, Delhi, Lucknow, Bangalore, Kozhikode and Jaipur.
It connects these Indian cities to Chittagong, Karachi, Cairo, Beirut, Amman, Jordan, London and Bangkok. Peter
Hill, chief executive officer of Oman Air,
said, “Oman Air is very happy to add Kathmandu to its network. We would like to offer our passengers an opportunity to experience one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world.”
In addition to strong demand for flights from Nepalis who work in Oman, we expect to see significant corporate and leisure traffic, which is important to the economic development of Nepal.
Oman Air is pleased to support this growth with its new services, added Hill. Amravati Travels is the general sales agent (GSA) of Oman Air in Nepal.
