NEPSE inches up by 1.42pt
KATHMANDU, AUG 08 -
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) inched up with a small gain of 1.42 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. The benchmark index climbed to 459.83 points despite a fall in five sub-indices against a rise in two sub-indices.
A small surge in the sub-indices of the others and commercial bank sectors pushed the stock market to the green zone. The others and commercial bank groups posted gains of 5.87 points and 1.46 points respectively.
Meanwhile, hydropower companies led the losers by dropping 1.82 points. Similarly, hotels, development banks, finance companies and insurance companies also went down shedding 1.74 points, 0.3 point, 0.21 point and 0.1 point respectively. The sub-index of manufacturing and processing group remained unchanged.
The declaration of bonus shares and dividends by Everest Bank showed a positive impact on the trading of its shares on the stock market with its stock going up Rs. 60 per share, the highest of the day. Triveni Bikas Bank suffered the greatest fall in its stock, losing Rs. 20 per share.
Out of 63 companies on the trading floor, 30 companies saw their share prices tumble, 21 companies saw growth and 12 companies did not see any change. The NEPSE registered a turnover of Rs. 21.08 million from the trading of 45,089 shares. The number of transactions reached 919.
