NEPSE down by 1.71pts

KATHMANDU, AUG 02 -
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) slumped 1.71 points on Monday dragged down by losses in five sub-indices. The benchmark index fell to 460.77 points when the market closed for the day.

A whopping fall of 30.48 points in the hydropower sub-index made it the prime loser followed by commercial banks, insurance companies and finance companies with losses of 2.35 points, 1.37 points, 0.05 point and 0.01 point respectively.

The sub-indices of hotels and development banks went up by 6.95 and 1.04 points respectively. 

Shares of Butwal Power Company suffered the most losing Rs. 75 per share. Meanwhile, shares of Nerude Laghubittiya Bikas Bank gained Rs. 320

per share on the very first day of trading.

Among the 67 companies on the trading floor, 25 companies saw their share prices drop while 31 companies registered gains and 11 companies saw no change.

The stock market witnessed a turnover of Rs. 37.54 million with the trading of 131,478 shares in 1,167 transactions.
