Inflation at 9.6pc, but folk still feel the heat

KATHMANDU, JUL 25 -
Even though the latest macroeconomic indicator published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) shows that the consumer price inflation has declined to 9.6 percent in mid-June 2010, the majority of the consumers is  feeling the heat of a high price rise in food and beverages.

Statistics provided by NRB showed that the price tistics of food and beverage group increased by 11.3 percent.

Among the items in the food and beverages group, the price of spices increased by 36.2 percent, sugar and sugar-related products, milk and milk products, pulses and restaurant meals jumped by 20.6 percent, 14.8 percent, 15.8 percent and 18.8 percent, respectively.

The index of grains and cereal products subgroup also witnessed an increase of 14.1 percent during the period.
