EU to donate Rs 126m
KATHMANDU, JUL 20 -
European Union Delegation to Nepal launched “Call for Proposals” (CFP) in the framework of the EU thematic programme “Non-State Actors in Development” on 9 July.
For this, the European Union will donate 2.4 million Euros (Rs. 126 million) to support the initiatives of the civil society organisations directed to the most venerable and marginalised groups. “The overarching objective of the programme is poverty reduction in the context of sustainable development including the pursuit of the Millennium Development Goals and other internationally agreed targets,” reads an EU statement. The specific objective of this actor-oriented programme is to support the self-initiatives of the civil society organisations and strengthen their capacities to promote inclusive and empowered society in partner countries, in close cooperation with local authorities, local communities and most vulnerable population groups.
“For this year the budget is approximately 2.4 million Euros (Rs. 126.44) and we expect to award between 6 to 8 grant contracts,” the statement reads further.
The CFP for this year will focus on two areas, namely vocational training and good governance. The proposal should focus on only one area. One organisation cannot present more than one proposal.
