HUMLA, JUL 19 -
The stock of foodstuff in the Simikot deopt of Nepal Food Corporation (NFC) has completely exhausted.

The depot remains empty as it distributed all the foodstuff it had in stock with the end of the fiscal year four days ago.

The NFC said it has no foodstuff which can be stored and used in case of an emergency.

The District Food Management Committee decided to store 100 quintals of foodgrain for emergency use during natural calamities.

The Simikot depot said it distributed all the foodstuff it had in store as locals demanded a huge quantity of them to celebrate the Saunesankranti festival.

“We distributed the foodstuff we had with us to locals some days back and the depot is now empty now as we failed to transport additional foodstuff,” said Narayan Singh KC, an employee at the Simikot depot.

The depot transported some foodstuff on Friday on a helicopter as per the decision of the district food management committee. However, the food was immediately distributed.

“We have arranged transporting more foodgrain. However, air services have been halted since Friday due to adverse weather conditions here,” KC said.
