NEPSE inches up 1.6pts
KATHMANDU, JUL 12 -
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a marginal growth of 1.6 points on Monday. A rise in the sub-indices of five sectors on NEPSE pushed up the benchmark index to 461.62 points.
The secondary market saw a rise in the sub-indices of commercial banks, development banks, hydropower companies, finance companies and the others sector.
The others sector led the winners gaining 7.05 points followed by hydropower companies, development banks, commercial banks and finance companies climbing 4.66 points, 1.6 points, 1.08 points, 0.62 point and 0.34 point respectively.
The insurance sector was the lone loser of the day shedding 5.05 points. The hotel sub-index remained constant. Among the 72 companies present on the trading floor, Standard Chartered Bank posted the highest gain of Rs. 87 per share, while Nabil Bank suffered the most losing Rs. 90 per share.
Share prices of 27 companies went up while 28 companies saw their share prices go down and 17 companies saw no change in their share prices. The number of shares traded rose with the stock market registering a turnover of Rs. 46.21 million through the trading of 152,870 shares in 703 transactions.
