Youth Force tries to muzzle Jhapa daily

POST REPORT

KATHMANDU, JUL 05 -
It seems like some CPN-UML cadres don’t know that no political party can control media.

This is what exactly happened in Jhapa on Thursday.

Cadres of UML-aligned Youth Force (YF) vandalised the office of Janasamsad daily, said Freedom Forum, a local NGO monitoring press freedom in Nepal, on Sunday.

“A group of Youth Force cadres led by Raju Karki, a central committee member, vandalised the newspaper office over a news story published by the paper,” said the Forum issuing a press statement.

“Youth Force cadres attacked the newspaper’s office for carrying out a news report that the UML’s youth force illegally took control over two motorcycles owned by a local financial institution, Mahendra Cooperative,” the release added.
