Budget session begins today amid standoff

KATHMANDU, JUL 04 -
The all important budget session of the Legislature Parliament is starting from 3 p.m. on Monday. Speaker Subas Nembang will read out a letter sent by President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav related to the summoning of the session in the first meeting, Spokesperson of the Parliament Secretariat Mukunda Sharma told the Post on Sunday. The current caretaker government is planning to bring in a special bill related to ‘advance budget’ in the parliament on July 9.

After resignation of Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, the major parties have agreed that annual programmes and policies of the government and budget for fiscal year 2010/11 will be brought by the new government. The House will also elect a new prime minister in this session.
